Ray’s Eyes – First Step Toward a New Doll
  • In this post, I’m sharing the process of making eyes for my dolls. Everything is done by hand – from shaping the clay to painting and sealing the surface.
  • First, I choose the polymer clay I’ll use to shape the eyes. I sculpt small spheres and bake them to harden.
  • After baking, I gently press each one to create a shallow dent where the pupil will go.
  • I paint the irises and pupils using Genesis Heat Set Paints – professional paints made specifically for polymer clay. These paints must be baked to cure, and once set, they become part of the surface rather than sitting on top.
  • For the final touch, I apply a thin layer of Magic Glos UV resin to add depth and a glass-like shine. Then I place the eyes in the sun until the resin is fully cured.
